Most of ASTRNT’s team works remotely from all over Indonesia, Asia, and Australia, that’s why our semi-annually. get-together excursion is something everyone looks forward to. It’s a chance to meet the people we work close together with up close and personal. The two-day excursion was filled with learning, games, and entertainment. Everybody took part in each event and bonded with each other.
With all the team members arriving, we set off from ASTRNT’s Bandung office on a bus towards Lembang, stopping by for a bite in Punclut before we headed back up. Once the team was settled, the event began with a Special All-Hands, where the CEO and department heads of each team, from JP, Rizal, Raya, Sheeren & Chandra took turns acknowledging and congratulating all the accomplishments over the past 6 months done by the team. It’s a special moment for everyone to reflect and understand the company’s purpose, not forgetting to appreciate the teamwork that has led to those accomplishments.
The event was followed by team-building games that each department had been preparing which everyone took part in. Working together hand-in-hand was not only fun and exciting, but also brought everyone closer personally. Seeing everyone and talking to each other outside of online meetings in front of the computer was good. The notorious “One Funnel Ladies” were especially thrilled to see each other. With Irene living in Yogyakarta, Sheeren in North Jakarta, and Nadhilah in Depok, they rarely see each other in person though they work closely together. “We share the same values not just in work, but also our status as remote working moms and we just naturally bond,” says Nadhilah

As the sun goes down and the whole team has time for dinner, the creme delight of the Excursion begins Karaoke Party Night. Everybody had their game face on.
Nigel Hembrow, the CEO of ASTRNT, who lives in Australia and travels a lot, was able to simply sing an Indonesian ballad word for word. But it’s times like this, when Nigel spends time with our employees, that forge the deepest connections within our organization. The closeness among our team members knows no boundaries despite the distance.
Neither do we ever see ASTRNT’s head of Lead Gen belch a Queen song sporting a green wig and glitters all around. Everyone in the team performed their heart out, singing solo, duet, or all together. Colleagues who are usually occupied with their jobs as professionals found themselves unexpectedly in the spotlight as they mounted the stage to display their secret singing powers. The night’s host Raya made the night lively, and we can never forget the incredible solo performance by Angga and the Karaoke Queen Irene. The night closes with many KPOP and Taylor Swift songs that were the favorites of ASTRNT interns who stayed up late singing their hearts out.
While some took their rest, some stayed up just for chats over coffee or football matches on the PS5. It was a chance to connect personally with each other. “We meet every day online, it’s good to know that we are actual friends when we meet each other”, says Vinsen. “We can talk about everything from our families to our hobbies”, he added.

The ASTRNT Excursion was a big success. We hope to bring the team closer together beyond life on the computer screen, fostering connection, and recognizing successes. It motivates the team to work together with the people they know and trust, to not let them down, and to be there for the team. We are looking forward to the next excursion in February 2024.
