MBSB Bank of Malaysia in cooperation with Astronaut recently had a session with fresh graduates about online interviews. Hosted by Santhana Krisnasamay, the event talks about how covid has forced life and technology to take a leap forward, and here to stay are online hiring. Its a brand new world for jobseekers, a world they need to adapt and get used to if they are to succeed in.

Nigel Hembrow
Astronaut’s CEO, Nigel Hembrow, talks about how to treat online interviews just like the real thing. “Wear something nice, like what you would wear to a walk in interview”, he added. A lot of interviewee tend to be dressed too casual for an interview because they are doing it at home. People need to give an online interview process the same attention and respect that you would at a face-to-face interview. You would be surprised how dressing for an occasion would effect you as an individual and bring out certain confidence that you would need to support you, mentally.
“Being genuine is important, you want to let the interviewer know a little more about you. That’s how you stand out.”, Nigel added. Being memorable is important, and that shows in how you conduct yourself, how you speak, and how your personality stand out. “However, be concise. Don’t bore them with long stories that doesn’t answer the question or relate to the job you are applying”.
